Below is a new greeting card I'm working on setting up. Since tomorrow is Easter I thought it would be appropriate to reveal. This is a portrait by my mother, Marion Wilcox Fleming--you may also see a photograph of the original on the Portfolio page of this site.
When I took the painting to be re-framed recently, one of the shop owners said it reminded him of a Norman Rockwell. It's true my mother grew up in Arlington, Vermont when Rockwell lived there and he advised her on her art career. So the portrait probably had some Rockwell influence. But she definitely had her own portrait style that revealed itself best in pastel. In about a month I will be adding three pastel portraits to the Portfolio page that I think are amazing. Stayed tuned for those. In the meantime, have a look at the beautiful detail of this little boy saying his nightly prayers.
